Obviously the best place to be drinking beer is at home with an order from the British Beer Shop, however, we are also social animals and like to try out different bars and beers, so we thought that it might be fun to start listing some of our favourite establishments with a few comments. If you would like to add some comments or be added to the list, drop us a line.

McGhee's Irish Bar, Bahnhof Enge

A small but well situated pub next door to the station. Under new management with John Mansfield from the Lion Pub recently taking over. It is a great pub to watch rugby and football and you are guaranteed a warm welcome by John and his staff.Live music is a feature and you might even see the odd appearance by a bagpiper...

Beers: Schneider Weisse - On tap, one of the great Weiss Beers and one of my personal favourites. Try it with the steak and Ale pie.

The International, Luisenstrasse 7, Zurich
A cozy bar located just off Langstrasse and a few minutes walk from Limmatplatz. This bar specialises in Swiss micro breweries and often hosts 'meet the brewer' event and tap takeovers.

Beers: The beers change regularly but Rappi Gold has been a regular feature. If you want to try something different take a walk over the hip and trendy side of Zurich,

Restaurant Heitersberg, Heitersberg, Spreitenbach
Situated on the hill above Spreitenbach this restaurant combines a traditional farmhouse feel with fantastic views back towards Zurich and the airport. Your hosts Chrigi and Eveline run a tight ship and the food is excellent - a must is the pulled pork, but don't take my word for it. Keep an eye on their website for promotion weeks and also specialist beer and whisky tasting events. A great venue for a Sunday lunch or a party.
Beers: Chrigi stocks some good local beers, as well as Spey Valley Stout and Sunshine on Keith. Watch out for specials and also keep an eye on the whisky bottles for some unusual drams.

The Lion Pub, Oetenbachgasse 6, Zurich
Situated near to the Banhofstrasse entrance to Rennweg, this pub is a lively and busy venue. Boasting a good menu of traditional British dishes both at lunchtime and in the evenings. The pub is part of the Brasserie Lipp restaurant and accessible through the restaurant. It is popular for sports and also hosts live music. Check out the Union Jack inspired flooring.
Beers: London Pride in bottle and Ittinger on draft.
